Convincing cyclist friends to do this is fairly easy. If I could just get my other friends to try this, then I would feel good. Unfortunately Fresno is pretty spread out. The closest grocery store to my house is not one I like to shop at, so I'm looking at 3 miles to the store, 7 miles to church, etc. A lot of other towns are set up so you can do everything right near your home and so cycling makes a lot of sense. Around here it takes a more concerted effort to be a commuter. It can still be done, though. We walk our kids to the neighborhood school (that we have kept them at by choice) and we live only half a mile from CSUF where we attend, so we are lucky to be able to easily ride there. But most people I know do very little within one mile of their homes. Do you have a different experience?
Lover of Tracy, Finn, Reed, and Ryann. Fighting against the random moments of angst. This is how I view the world. Racing, Working, and dreaming of the next thing to come along.
